Compounded medications are not FDA-approved. The FDA does not verify the safety, effectiveness, or quality of compounded drugs before they are marketed.
Cost alone is not a valid medical reason for prescribing compounded medication instead of an FDA-approved alternative. Your provider can only prescribe compounded tirzepatide if you have specific medical needs that FDA-approved products can’t meet.
