IMPORTANT: Compounded medications are prepared by state-licensed pharmacies following a prescription from your licensed healthcare provider. Although these medications have not undergone FDA approval, they are prepared under state and federal regulatory oversight and must adhere to established safety and quality standards.
Compounded medications are not FDA-approved. The FDA does not verify the safety, effectiveness, or quality of compounded drugs before they are marketed.
Cost alone is not a valid medical reason for prescribing compounded medication instead of an FDA-approved alternative. Your provider can only prescribe compounded semaglutide if you have specific medical needs that FDA-approved products can’t meet.

Insurance
Compounded medications are generally not covered by insurance. If you have prescription drug coverage, you may want to check with your insurance provider about coverage for FDA-approved semaglutide products (Ozempic® or Wegovy®) through a traditional healthcare provider.
